From Test to Testimony, From Fear to Faith is the most autobiographical Betty’s Heart film to date—a deeply personal musical reflection from lyricist, producer and arranger Terell Prince Lasane on serious illness, fear, perseverance, healing and the evolution of faith.
At its center is a simple idea:
The trial is not the testimony. What faith allows us to become through the trial is the testimony.
Drawing from the Betty’s Heart gospel albums Born Again From the Ashes and Every Knee Shall Bow, the film follows a spiritual progression from test to cry, faith to surrender, deliverance to testimony, and gratitude to praise.
The songs do not present faith as freedom from suffering. They explore faith as a source of strength within suffering—the decision to hold on when answers are uncertain, to pray when fear is loud, to listen when the world is noisy, and ultimately to give thanks after emerging from the fire.
The journey culminates appropriately with “Hallelujah”—not simply as a song of celebration, but as the response of someone who has traveled through fear and discovered reasons to praise on the other side.
And watching symbolically from above is Betty, the mother whose faith inspired both the man and the musical catalogue bearing her name.
This movie is therefore more than another chapter in the Betty’s Heart catalogue.
It is part testimony, part thanksgiving and part love letter to the faith of a mother whose lessons continued speaking long after her voice was gone.
